Where to live?

Well, I was doing a research in some of my favourites cities in the USA, and finally I decided that the place that I would like to live is New York. Mainly because I like a lot big cities, with a los of interesting places and also with a lot of fun.
I found this apartment in the Upper East Side in Manhattan, with two bedrooms and bathrooms, it's newly renovated, spacious brand new kitchen, with marble bathroom, excellent natural light, polished oak hardwood floor and also near all major New York City transportation.
Another thing I really loved from this apartment is that dogs are allowed, because I can't be without my dog.

And about a place that I would not live in, I would say that it would be Canada, because it's a really cold place, and actually I prefer warm and sunny places. I hate the cold!

Reflective essay

For my reflective essay I choose to write about the Motivation article because I think it's a really interesting topic, specially for us, as future teachers, we need to know how to motivate students in learning.

One of the topics in the text that interest me the most was when the author tells about his experience on the first-year class and third-year class. He was shocked about how motivated were the first-year students, compared to the almost total demotivation in the third-year class. He asks himself what happened with them, where did the motivation go?

But mainly I have to say that motivation problems have a lot of different answer, and all of them are right.

Strengths & Weaknesses

I was seeing some of my classmates' blogs, and as a common result I can say that we all have some problems in punctuation. There are some of them that are not as much than others, but I think that this is the more frequent aspect in which we are making mistakes.

But actually, what can we do about this? I think that this happen because we don't know how to punctuate words in spanish properly, so we don't either how to punctuate in english.

This is a really common weakness, because maybe we didn't have a proper education about punctuation in our schools and some of us have proper punctuation lessons.

And talking about strengths I would say that our biggest strenght is originality. We are making really good texts, as I saw in some classmates' blogs, some of them with some jokes and some interesting topics that are keeping you thinking about the writing after you stop reading it.

Government Letter

Dear Mrs. Bachelet:
I'm writing this letter because I'm really worried about young people who are robbing a lot. I'm so worried about this because some weeks ago, some young boys were robbing a house, out of santiago, and one of this guys was killed because they start to fight with the police.

The thing is I live in PeƱalolen, a place with a high level of social vulnerability, and this guys were from PeƱalolen too. I think that it's a lack of respect that this guy who died, was buried like a war hero even though is just a criminal to me.

I don't know where this problem came from. Education maybe, I don't know, but I do know that it will be really useful to pass this law in which young people from 14 years can be in jail. They're fearless, because they know that they will be out at the next day, so they don't care if they kill a police man, or innocent people maybe.

So I think that something have to be done about this topic.

Best regards,
Claudia Salgado

Rudeness

An specific behaviour that really exasperates me is when people don't let you to get off the subway. They put theirselves just in the middle of the subway's doors, so you can't get off. When this happen, sometimes people can't leave the train in the subway's station that they want to, and they have to get off one subway's station away or even further away.

I think people should be educated about this topic, they need to know that this it's not right. Metro Santiago company is always remembering people to "let get off before get in" so it's not a Metro issue, it's a people issue. We should be more tolerant in this aspect. We need to think also in the other people.

What if we are the ones who couldn't get off the train in the right subway's station?

We need to make a change, starting with ourselves.

Teachers are being bullied too ?

It's hard to think about this. But bullying is not only affecting children. This problem has been reaching teachers too. In the BBC web site, I found this interesting article which informs that thanks to a survey they found out that "about half of tachers asked had been teased, abused or physically attacked by pupils".

The article also said that "teachers are worried about reporting the bullying in case it makes their school look bad". Is this good?

A lot of teachers have been punched by their students, a number of them have had aerosols sprayed into their faces. The teachers have been seriously abused. But their inner selves had stayed in the shadows, keeping this secret.

Can we do something if they don't want to be helped?

So, I think that the only thing we can do in this moment is to encourage teachers to report these cases, because it's the only way to do something about it.
